January and February are proving to be extremely busy and exciting at the Maine Women's Fund. We have received grant applications for this year's Economic Security Initiative and will be announcing our awardees in March. Through those applications we are allowed a glimpse of the work that is being done to optimize the prospect of an economically secure state for women and girls.

We are currently in the midst of more than a dozen regional needs assessment community meetings that are taking place through February. We will have gathered findings from Springvale in York County to Bangor in Penobscot County, and from Trescott in Washington County to Bethel in Oxford County. Just this week we added meetings in Aroostook and Piscataquis counties as well. We owe a debt of gratitude to the fantastic, dedicated volunteers who are making these possible. What the resulting information can do to help the Fund understand the needs of women and girls across the state is priceless. The fact that people are gathering to talk and listen is helping many to have a voice in making their community's particular needs known. Read more about when and where these gatherings are taking place by clicking here.
